Das Organisierte Verbrechen und bestechliche Polizisten, dazu ein dampfender Gullideckel und dunkle Gassen und schon hat man fast alles, was man für einen guten Gangster-Streifen braucht. Wenn dann noch die Story stimmt und die Schauspieler etwas von ihrem Handwerk verstehen, ist ein spannender Abend gesichert. Da brauch man nur noch zu sagen „…frage mich niemals nach meinen Geschäften“.
Ehrenplatz: Die Godfather-Serie (die guten Teile, 1 und 2, versteht sich). Es geht um Aufstieg, drohender Fall und Machtausbau der Cosa Nostra in den USA. Ein cineastisches Meisterwerk mit unvergleichlicher Filmmusik und gut gespielten Charakteren; auf immer DER Film, wenn es um die Mafia geht.
1. Gangster Squad
Um den größten Gangster, den Kalifornien zu Bieten hat, zur Strecke zu bringen, braucht es Männer, welche keine Skrupel kennen und schon selbst fast Gangster sind. Mit dieser Strategie spielt Sgt. John O’Mara ein Katz und Maus Spiel gegen Mickey Cohen. Modernes Film Noir vom Feinsten (Basiert auf einer wahren Geschichte).
2. Road to Perdition
Ein bewegendes Vater-Sohn-Drama, bei dem sich ein Mann zwischen seiner Bestimmung und seiner Familie entscheiden muss. Und nichts ist schrecklicher, als die Rache eines Mannes, der alles verloren hat; und nichts ist größer als die Liebe eines Vaters zu seinem Sohn. Ein Film, der bewegt und auch vor Gewaltdarstellungen nicht scheut: Schön, tragisch und brutal.
3. Eastern Promises
In einem russischen Gefängnis bist du ohne deine Tätowierungen ein Nichts. Als „Wory“ bist du ein Fürst. Das Auftauchen eines Tagebuches bringt einen russichen „Geschäftsmann“ in London in arge Bedrängnis. Er lässt seine Wölfe von der Kette, um alles zu regeln und gerät aber gleichzeitig in einen Konflikt mit einer anderen Familie. Ein Film mit vielen unerwarteten Wendungen: Spannend bis zur letzten Sekunde, bedrohlich, roh und brutal dazu.
4. The Deparded
Es tobt ein Krieg zwischen der Bostoner Polizei und der Irischen Gangster-Vereinigung. Beide Seiten schicken ihre besten Männer in die Reihen der Feinde, um sich Vorteile zu verschaffen. Hektisch, spannend und voller krasser Plot-Wendungen. Man fühlt sich schon beim Zuschauen gehetzt und versetzt sich voll rein. Wer ist gut und wer ist böse? Die Grenze scheint stetig zu verwischen!
5. Puplic Enemies
Kalte Ästhetik, Style durch und durch. Es ist eine Gangster-Ballade um den berüchtigten John Dillinger, der erste Staatsfeind Nummer 1. Gut in Szene gesetzte Feuerwechsel und Film-Noir ähnliche Charaktere machen diesen Film so gut! Zudem spielt Johnny Depp die Hauptrolle!

Organized criminality and corrupt police officers, among them a reeking manhole and dark gossips. That is basically all you need for a great gangster movie. And if the story is right and the actors are good, an exciting evening is ensured. There’s one thing left to say: “…never ask me about my business”.
Place of honor: The Godfather (the good parts, 1 and 2 of course). It is about rise, the soon fall and the power expansion of the Cosa Nostra in the USA. A cinematic masterpiece with incomparable soundtrack and well played characters; forever THE movie when it’s about Mafia.

To kill the biggest gangster, which California has to offer, you need men who don’t know any qualms and are almost gangsters themselves. With this strategy Sgt. John O’Mara plays a cat and mouse game with Mickey Cohen. Modern film noir at its finest. (Based on a true story)
2. Road to Perdition
A moving father-son drama, where a man has to decide between his family and his destiny. And nothing is more horrible than the revenge of a man who has lost everything, and nothing is bigger than a father’s love for his son. A movie, which moves and also isn’t afraid of getting graphic: Beautiful, tragic and brutal.
3. Eastern Promises
In a Russian prison you are nothing without tattoos. As “wory” you are a ruler. When a diary appears it brings a Russian “Businessman” in London in real trouble. He lets loose his wolves to solve everything and gets in trouble with another family at the same time. A movie with many unexpected turns: Exciting until the last second, intimidating, raw and brutal at the same time.
4. The Departed
A war rages between the Boston Police and the Irish Gangster-Group. Both sides send their best men to the enemy, to get advantages. Frantic, exciting and full of plot twists. You feel rushed while watching already and you will be fully immersed. Who is good? Who is bad? The border seems to be blurring the whole times.
5. Public Enemies
Cold aesthetic, style all through. It is a gangster ballad about infamous John Dillinger, the first public enemy number one. Well set in scene firefights and film-noir similar characters make this movie so great! Further, Johnny Depp plays the main role.
