Simon Porte Jacquemus – he is the rising star in the French fashion world and was twice awarded one of the hard-fought LVMH Prizes even though he had no training in fashion design. The self-taught left the ESMOD in Paris after only one month when his mother died, and he realized how short life is. He then began to work at a boutique of the legendary label Comme des Garcons. During the day, he was an ordinary salesman at a boutique and at night, he worked on his debut collection. Expenses and stress which paid off in the end. Today, he reveals new facets of his childlike genius creativity each year at the Paris Fashion Week, where he excelled with an extraordinary show and choreography last year. A giant red cloth ball was pushed out on stage by a little boy in a man’s shirt. Models in exceptionally designed clothes followed. Simon Porte Jacquemus participated in this presentation and led a white horse through the room wearing white innocent garments. The audience was amazed, but it was mainly the fashion that caught the audience’s hearts.
You can clearly see the amazing way he proves youthful boundlessness and fantasy when looking at the cuts. He puts the fabrics into drapes in a childlike, playful way before he attaches them to the female body with finesse and virtuosity. His asymmetric, wildly constructed yet wearable works appear like tinkering. Neverheless, you can’t argue about the ingenuity.
