Von George S. Bailey 1922 gegründet, fing das Label an sich in den Hills von Hollywood auf den Köpfen der männlichen Stars zu mausern. Bailey gilt als einer der Pioniere, die erkannten, dass der Image-Wert der echten Hollywood Role Actors eine Vorbildfunktion in Bezug auf den stylischen Werdegang der jungen Männer hatte. Nach der explosionsartig expandierenden Wirtschaftslage im Westen der USA, also auch in Los Angeles, stattete Bailey neben den Stars auch den „Neuen Westen“ aus, wozu Kalifornische Ranger, Business-Männer und Öl-Tycoons gehörten.
Mit dieser Historie im Rücken erklärt es sich leicht, dass sich das kreative Schaffen in diese zwei Kollektionen unterteilt. 1. Hollywood 2. Western.
Hollywood ist von den Hutformen her kosmopolitischer, urbaner! Die Krempe ist weniger ausladend, dafür ergeben sich im Design andere Feinheiten. Wir finden in dieser Kollektion den typischen cremefarbenen Panama-Hut, stylische Hüte mit geknickten Krempen und vereinzelten Federn, die aus klassisch-schmückenden Bändern hervorschauen, Hüte aus Leinen, aus Bast, grob geflochten oder fein, in Grau, Blau, Grün, Creme oder Weiß aber auch gestreift oder mit Zick Zack-Muster. http://www.baileyhats.com/hollywood/gallery.html
Die Western Kollektion: Hier gibt es Hüte In Weiß, in Creme, mit Outline auf der ausladenden Krempe, in mattem Schwarz, in Lack-Schwarz, mit Farbverlauf an den extrem eingeklappten Krempen wie bei dem Ombrestil, oder mit Lederband, Stoffband und Perlenband. Founded by George S. Bailey in 1922, the tags of the hats, worn by the stars in Hollywood, bear the label’s name. Bailey was one of the pioneers who realized that the perfect appearance of celebrities affected the maturing of young men who considered their beloved Hollywood stars their role models. After the explosively growing of the economics in the west of the USA including Los Angeles, Bailey provided the west with his hats as well, apart from Hollywood. This means Californian rangers, business men and oil tycoons became customers.
Considering the history of this label, it is not surprising that the creativity of this label can be divided into two collections: 1st Hollywood, 2nd Western.
Hollywood is much more urban and cosmopolitan in regard to the hat shapes. The brim is much less prominent. Instead, the design is provided with other details. The typical crème-colored Panama hat, stylish hats with folded brims and feathers, which protrude from classically embellishing bands, here and there can be found in the collection. Hats made of linen, bast, roughly braided or delicately, in blue, grey, crème or white are part of the collection as well. But if you like your hats striped or adorned with zigzag patterns, you too will love the Hollywood collection.
The Western collection: This collection offers hats in white, in crème with an outline on the protruding brim, in a dull black, in a lacquer black, with a color gradient on the folded brims or with a leather band, fabric band or pearl band. Especially the pearl band reminds you of Crocodile Dundee.
