The Cape Town based fashion label Tart  has been growing ever since its establishment. The whole story began with one t-shirt. From then on the label developed under the leadership of founder Cari Stephenson into a popular label in South Africa for womenswear. The beginning of March marked the time for the MBFW in Johannesburg  and that’s where the designer presented his Fall / Winter collection for 2015/2016. But I decided to introduce this label to you by presenting its latest collection.

The Spring / Summer line can be described as sporty chic. But before I get into all the sporty/minimal cuts I just wanted to convey my first impression: Even prior to even seeing the cuts and details, I noticed the colors. Besides a clearly dominating black, I noticed an intense magenta and an almost neon lime green. Maybe it has something to do with the recent development in sportswear fashion that’s almost always is associated with black / neon combinations.

And my first impression did not let me down. Besides a couple of dresses in a minimal – avant-garde style I spot mainly sportswear in this collection. Mesh, sports pants, shortened basketball jerseys and all that jazz. Overall it’s safe to say that this collection definitely has this sporty vibe to it, whether it’s tight or loose. As far as Cari Stephenson is concerned, sport definitely doesn’t kill you!
