love bands

love bands 2

Hello fellow beauty lovers.

Have you ever heard of the term „love bands“? Well, those suckers are the talk of the town in Seoul right now. They’re basically little bulges below the eyes.

Wait a minute… bulges, as in eye bags? Seriously?

When I think of eye bags, I think of something unattractive, something I want to conceal and hide. I don’t know how many cucumbers and eye creams had to be used in our past  to get rid of those suckers and now they’re something we actually want?

Well, not exactly. You see, in South Korea you have to differentiate between bad eye bags and good ones. The so-called “love bands” are considered good and attractive.

Why the heck is it so popular?

This popularity has mainly to do with the association of eye fat with a childlike, attractive and innocent charm. That’s most of the time enough reason why women undergo a procedure to achieve this look.

The most common procedure basically includes a gel based on hyaluronic acid. A doctor injects this liquid just below your eyes to achieve a certain amount of volume. Butsince this gel only lasts about 9 months in our system, more and more people go a step further. They let doctors transplant their own body fat into their lower eyelids to achieve a semi-permanent finish.

The dangerous part is that if you don’t rely on the expertise of a skilled doctor it can quickly turn the other way. The consistency of those gels and fats are extremely difficult to control, which means you are likely to end up with way too much under your eye. Do we really want that?

Yours truly,

Lana
