Desert Designs was founded by Stephen Culley , Jimmy Pike and David Worth. It is the first label which dedicated itself to interpreting the traditional art of the Aborigines, placing these interpretations onto textile. At the same time, the art of the aborigines is connected with modern fashion in this way in an attempt to raise the public’s awareness of the beauty of Aboriginal culture. The artworks are in the first place presented in the shape of prints and embroideries on the pieces of clothing and turn the simple garments into real art.

The designs seem to exude peace and are made to emphasize humankind’s bond with nature.  Thus, the patterns appear like oceans of colors, peace signs are incorporated and headgear made of flowers is worn to round off the desert designs. Another side of the label shows designs in black and white and black and grey, on which the patterns are arranged wildly. The pieces of clothing vary in terms of their style. The assortment ranges from dresses, whether short, long, figure-hugging or loose, to tight-fitting pants and masculine jackets.

Desert Designs connects nature and indigenous traditions with fashionable visions. Whether they are colorful or black and white, the source of inspiration is clear. This brand will take part in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Sydney. Don’t miss the show of Desert Design.
