Lulu Liu is a London-based designer with Chinese and British origins. She studied at the London College of Fashion and graduated in 2011. After having gained many experiences at the label Giles, she now focuses on her own eponymous label. Lulu Liu uses only the best materials for her designs. Cashmere, fur and finest wool result in extravagant, elegant and very feminine garments.
Her collection “Hallucination of the Clown” is mainly inspired by clowns and the landscape of Dalian, a Chinese harbor town. The distance to reality and the drift into hallucinations are highlighted by Salvador Dali’s works, which are transformed into prints.
Liu also experiments with many flounces, sometimes even in an overdone way. One of the dresses is completely covered by them and looks like an oversized clown collar. Other designs receive their edgy look with striking colors. However, you will also find many soft designs, which are also combined with some fur. Lulu Liu proves that she can scintillate and attract attention with exaggerations, but also with solid and elegant designs which lead back to the everyday life.
