Alice Fern recently graduated from The University of Westminster. Her final collection impressed with masterful draperies and overdone silhouettes. Nevertheless, her designs still follow the female beauty. Most of all, she works with unusual draperies and cutting techniques to let her designs look unique.

In her “To Dye For” collection she tries to work out how adding fabrics can offer more or even less mobility. She works with the juxtaposition of free, flowing materials and the creation of new surfaces with draperies.

The garments often transition into each other – voluminous draperies on the tops transition into a wide and free bottom piece. This transition is also used for the printings, e.g. white melts into a deep wine red. The draperies look like they have been wildly and impulsively put together, but still they keep their stucture.

Alice Fern’s collection is innovative. In there, she combines two poles, meaning the arranged and detailed draperies with the flowing and untouched fabrics. The fast and crazy look is so calmed down.
