Who hasn’t watched one of those breathtaking videos filmed with headcams wearing young people who seem completely crazy, almost suicidal? I mean who would voluntarily climb up the highest skyscrapers and buildings in the middle of downtown without any kind of safeguard equipment. They are urban free climbers from Russia. Most of them are extremely young on top. Almost teenagers.
Hanging from steel beams hundreds of meters above the ground, they are performing pullups, laughing and smiling at the camera. Why do they do this? Many of those young free climbers say they like the view from above, they like the adrenaline pumping through their bodies when looking down and seeing death waiting for them on the ground. Maybe they are just extremely bored living in a country where the economy does not have the capacity to give all youngsters the prospect of prosperity.
When reaching the top of the highest buildings in the world, be it in China, Dubai or Europe, the most crucial thing to do is take a selfie and film their incredible deed with a camera in order to post it online. They want to prove themselves, prove to the whole world what kind of crazy daredevils they are.
