During pregnancy a woman’s body goes through the biggest changes, not only on the outside but also on the inside. The most beautiful aspect for most parents is seeing the baby bump growing because it means that the belly is filled with life. However, with its increasing size the skin around the belly is stretched. Of course, during pregnancy, the skin naturally becomes more elastic but most of the time this is not enough to prevent ugly stretch marks, which is why the skin needs special care.

The most important rule when taking care of your belly skin is moisturizing it as much as you can. The more the belly skin is hydrated the better, because that way the skin is protected from stretch marks. You should not start later than in the twelfth week of your pregnancy with your skin care. Include this important care in your daily routine and you can  expect positive results at the end of your pregnancy. After every shower or every bath you should apply lotions, this may prevent itching and dry skin.

Hot showers or baths may dry out the skin, so it is best to wash it with lukewarm water. If you cannot live without a hot bath or hot shower, be sure to use bath oils and nourish the skin afterwards with a rich cream or lotion.

Of course a good and healthy diet and the right amount of exercise are another crucial factor in your skin care regimen. If you follow these simple tips, nothing can not go wrong and you can look forward to a smooth skin without blemishes at the end of your pregnancy.
