Japanese photographer Takehito Miyatake seems to have an eye for contrasts created by light and shadow. If you visit his galleries, these kinds of motifs dominate his impressive works.

Nevertheless, the pictures that captured me most are his night shots which are enlightened by light effects. The sources of light are always natural. From the active volcano, over thunderbolts to glow worms; everything that can enlighten the sky can be discovered in his photos. A picture of a thunderstorm which is surrounded by an active volcano is a very special masterpiece. A more “romantic” atmosphere comes from a moonlight shot which seems to be  caught in a waterfall flowing into a hollow.
