The artists behind CocoRosie are two sisters who, after they were living apart from each other for many years, came together to make music. Sierra and Bianca Casady officially established themselves as a duo in 2003. Bianca sings and plays the flute while Sierra is responsible for the supportive vocals and playing the guitar and harp. Many artists were involved in the creation of the album, for instant Beatboxer TEZ or pianist Gael Rakotondrabe are going to be featured.

The music by these sisters is very multifaceted and provides a mixture of electronic samples, classic arias, distorted child-like vocals by Bianca and “normal” instrumental recordings, which are also partly, electronically altered.

In addition to the usual instruments, they use other things to go with the music as well, such as the sound of hair driers, popcorn machines or kids toys. Give it a listen. It’s definitely worth it and it’s nice to hear something new and not the same music over and over again, right?
