“You know the good thing about LSD, if you can manage to overcome your fears, you can take your hallucinations wherever you want.”

Director: Gaspar Noé

Oscar: Nathaniel Brown

Linda: Paz de la Huerta

Alex: Cyril Roy

Enter the Void” is a very extraordinary movie. We start with the first-person perspective of Oscar, a young man who lives in Tokyo and earns a living as a small-time drug dealer. He lives together with his sister Linda. After their parents died in a car accident, they swore to always stay together.

After Oscar consumes DMT and LSD in his flat, he receives a call from his friend Victor, who asks him to come to the Void Bar to complete a business transaction. On the way there, another friend of Oscar’s, Alex, explains the Tibetian concept of reincarnation and out-of-body experiences. But when he arrives at the bar, he realizes that Victor has called the police, setting a trap for him. He flees to the restroom and gets rid of the drugs he has, but the police shoot him when he pretends to be armed.

This is where the movie really starts! His body is dead, but his soul carries on: he keeps his promise of always staying with her to his sister. I don’t want to reveal any more. Check out the movie for yourself! Is there life after death? Do out-of-body experiences exist? What exactly is the soul? What kinds of drugs make dying and death bearable, what is spirituality and where do all the questions about death come from? All these questions will come up in the movie.
