After I’ve been so upset about gaming the last time, it’s about time I tell you the great things about gaming. I mean, let’s get rid of the prejudiced image of the lazy and violence-loving gaming couch potato.
Fact #1: Gaming may train logical thinking as well as independent thinking
In contrast to other means of entertainment like Facebook, magazines and TV, gaming encourages you to think on your own and to solve problems. When watching TV, we are at most watching other people thinking. Of course we’re not talking about games like Call of Duty here, where you solve your problems with a well-aimed headshot, but games with numerous quizzes and puzzles. Some renowned examples are the Professor Layton series, the Phoenix Wright series, but also games with small puzzles in them such as the iconic Pokémon series.
