Katy Rodriguez bietet zwar Ready-To-Wear an, die Kleidung ist aber oft selbst zu schick für den Alltag, wie ich finde. Das Label hat sich auf weibliche Kleider oder Rock-Top-Kombinationen spezialisiert und alles andere aus dem Kleiderschrank verbannt. Die Kleider von Katy Rodriguez sind sehr weiblich aber auch kindlich auf eine spezielle, freche Art. Der Fokus liegt meist auf einem sehr voluminösen, kurzen Rock, der in fast jeder Kollektion seinen Platz findet. Dadurch wird die weibliche Hüfte betont und die Taille noch schlanker gemacht. Der Rock wird mit vielen bauschigen Lagen aufgeplustert und mit einem engen Oberteil kombiniert.
Ein weiteres Thema, das die Kollektionen durchzieht, ist die Masche. Sie wird auf dem Rücken gebunden oder vor dem Bauch angebracht. Sie dient aber auch selbst als Oberteil in der
„OBI“-Kollektion, die mit knalligen Farben und Mustern sehr bunt auftritt. Ganz im Gegensatz zu der „Wingate Paine“-Kollektion, die bis auf die roten Haare des Models auf Farben verzichtet.
Zwei Kollektionen fallen ein wenig aus dem Rahmen und entfernen sich von der typischen Handschrift der Designerin. Zum Einen wäre das die „Sari“-Kollektion, die im Gegensatz zum Rest sehr lange und vor allem weite aber gleichzeitig geradlinige Kleider präsentiert. Zum anderen zeigt sich auch „Mexico“ ganz anders als die Restlichen. Dort liegt der Fokus viel mehr auf Tragbarkeit im Alltag. Die Designs verzichten auf Volumen und finden ihre Besonderheit vor allem im Detail.

Although Katy Rodriguez offers ready-to-wear fashion, I find them slightly too chic for everyday life. The label specializes on feminine dresses and combinations of skirts and tops, but throws all the rest out of the wardrobe. Her dresses are really feminine, but also childlike and fresh. The focus is often set on a voluminous, short skirt which can be found in almost every collection. In this way, the female hip can be highlighted and the waist appears slimmer. The skirt is added volume by puffy layers and is combined with a tight top.
Another topic which goes through this collection, is the bow. It is tied on the back as well as on the midsection. This element finds itself in the “OBI” collection as well; and there surprises with crazy colors and patterns. This is a complete contrast to the “Wingate Paine” collection which leaves out too many colors except for the models’ red hair.
Two collections are getting out of the line and are diverging from the typical signature of the designer. On the hand, we have the “Sari” collection which, in contrast to the others, includes very long and wide, straight dresses. On the other hand, the “Mexico” line focuses on the wearability in everyday life. The volume is left out, but instead you will find many special details.
Katy Rodriguez is a versatile label, which presents us many impressing collections on its website. The palette includes elegant as well as girly and suitable or trashy pieces.
