Es ist ein echt krasser Trend, der sich in der alternativen Szene Europas so langsam verbreitet: gedehnte (Unter)Lippen. Ich bin durch Bilder auf Facebook darauf aufmerksam geworden und muss sagen, dass Bodymodifications immer unästhetischer werden. Man muss natürlich erwähnen, dass das Schönheitsideal in dieser Szene vielleicht nicht unbedingt massentauglich ist. Jedoch sollten zwecks Schönheit durchgeführte Modifikationen keinesfalls das Alltagsleben in diesem Maße erschweren. Ich bin der Meinung, dass es alles andere als praktisch ist, einen Tunnel oder Plug bis hin zum Teller in der Unterlippe stecken zu haben. Ich meine: Wie zur Hölle kann man mit so etwas essen, geschweige denn trinken?
Stell dir mal vor, du sitzt in der Bahn und der Typ neben dir öffnet beim Trinken nicht den Mund sonder stopft sich einfach den Flaschenhals durch die Lippe. Ziemlich gruselig. Des Weiteren sollte man hübsche weiße Zähne haben, wenn sie schon jeder durch den Lippentunnel bewundern kann… Auf den Fotos, die ich bei Facebook sah, schien nämlich genau das das Ziel dieser Körperveränderung zu sein: Durch Tunnel oder durchsichtige Acrylplugs müssen die Beißerchen zu sehen sein. Von daher muss der Tunnel mindestens so groß sein, dass die Zungenspitze hindurch passt.
Mal wieder kein Trend für mich…ich bleibe dann doch lieber bei gewöhnlichen Lippenpiercings

It’s a really extreme trend which is slowly spreading in the alternative scene of Europe: Gauged (lower) lips. I saw pictures of this on Facebook for the first time and I have to say that body modifications get more and more unaesthetic. Of course I have to say that the beauty ideal in this scene is not really mainstream, but it should not impair everyday life to this extreme extent. But in my opinion it’s not really practical to have a flesh tunnel, a plug or even a plate in your lower lip. I mean: How the hell do people drink of eat with such thing in their face?!
Imagine you are sitting in a train and the guy next to you doesn’t open his mouth for drinking but just stuffs the bottlen eck through his lip. Pretty scary. Also you really have to have pretty white teeth if the entire world can see through the hole in your lip. On the pictures of facebook this exactly seemed to be what this trend is about: By wearing tunnels or see-through acrylic plugs your teeth shall be visible for everyone. So your gauge has to be big enough that you can stick at least your tongue through it. Yummy.
And this is again not a trend for me. I’ll just stick with regular lip rings.
