In der Nähe des Berliner S-Bahnhofes Grünau befindet sich das alte Ballhaus, die Riviera. Sie ist gut hundert Jahre alt und war auch fast genauso lange in Betrieb. Doch seit einiger Zeit steht sie leer. Das macht sie zu einem attraktiven Ziel für Urban Explorer. Sie ist relativ leicht zu erreichen, man muss sich nur über einen Zaun schwingen und sich danach durch den Garten zu einem hinteren Eingang des Hauses begeben. Dort angekommen klettert man nur rasch durch ein Fenster und schon ist man drin. Dort erwarten dich große Säle und Gänge, hinzukommen Vorräume und Garderoben.
Wenn du über den nun fast eingestürzten Innenhof gehst, kommst du zu einer Treppe, welche dich in die oberen Etagen bringt. Hier findest du alte Wasch- und Schlafräume sowie in einigen der Zimmer interessante Street-Art (geht hin und seht es euch an…ich will euch die Überraschung nicht verderben). Aufpassen müsst ihr in der Riviera bei einigen Treppen und Anbauten, da diese aus Holz gebaut und entsprechend morsch sind. Zudem kann es sein, dass ihr vermehrt auf Fledermäuse trefft, die euch ziemlich eschrecken können. Alles in allem ist die Riviera ein gutes Ziel für einen Nachmittag.

Near the S-Bahn station Grünau in Berlin, there is an old ballroom called the Riviera. The hall is about 100 years old and has been in use for almost a century as well. But, now the building is deserted and abandoned. This makes the Riviera a very popular destination for Urban Explorers. The Riviera can be easily found. You just have to jump over a fence and cross a garden until you reach one of the back entrances. There, you climb over a window to enter the ballroom. Big halls and corridors as well as foyers and wardrobe rooms await you.
If you cross the almost collapsed backyard, you will reach a staircase which will lead you to the upper floors. Here, you can find old washing and sleeping rooms as well as interesting street artworks in some of the rooms. Go and see for yourself. I don’t want to spoil the surprise. However, you have to take care considering the fact that some staircases and other constructions are made of old wood which can be brittle. In addition, don’t panic if you can perceive sudden movements from the ceiling or even noises. Bats seem to love this place and therefore can be quite an unwanted surprise to clueless visitors. In general, the Riviera is a place you should go to in the afternoon.
