Hello fellow beauty lovers.
It’s that time again, where we from Readthetrieb.de got together to create a brand new Mini-Series for our column on Friday. I’ve been asked multiple times to really dig into the topic “Ladyboys in Thailand” and that is exactly what I’ve been doing. I have researched for days and it honestly took me by surprise that I wasn’t aware of so many things.
I’ve stumbled across a really interesting documentary by Spiegel TV that featured the life of the 21-year old Thai named “Golf”. The camera team accompanied her on her path to becoming a woman. The audience got a really good glimpse into the topic and world of the Kathoeys (Thai term for Transgender). You will quickly learn that, although there are more ladyboys in Thailand than anywhere else in the world, those people are still not accepted in their own country. We get to see the transformation of Golf including the surgeries and the intake of the hormones and her yearning for a normal life.
I honestly hope you will be accompanying me on this journey to discover the often misunderstood world of the Kathoeys.
