Aesthetics, grace and erotism: the double exhibition “Feuerbachs Musen – Lagerfelds Models” deals with only the beauty of women which inspired and accompanied the two artists.

Anselm Feuerbach (1829 – 1880), one of the greatest German artists of his time, revived the artful antique with his fantastic paintings. Two women, Anna Risi and later on Lucia Brunacci were his models and muses. Both resembled the Greek ideal of beauty.

The second part of the exhibition is built of Karl Lagerfeld’s series of pictures called “Moderne Mythologie”. It’s about photos that represent the antique love story of Daphnis and Chloe.

For this, Lagerfeld created 60 photographs, which were taken last year. The models Baptiste Giabiconi and Bianca Balti, who have accompanied him over the years, are put into the limelight.

The exhibition is opened at the Hamburger Kunsthalle until June 15.
