„My Boo“ bedeutet ja im Englischen so etwas wie „mein Schatz“…und glaubt mir, ihr werdet euch in die Räder von My Boo sofort verlieben! Die Besonderheit? Guckt sie euch doch mal an, sie bestehen aus Bambus. Wie cool ist das denn bitte? Sie sind nicht nur ziemlich leicht, sondern auch noch recycelbar! Bis auf ein paar wenige Teile (Reifen, Lampe, Sattel usw) bestehen sie komplett aus dem rapide nachwachsenden Rohstoff Bambus.
Doch woher kommen sie und wie werden sie gemacht?
Die Idee, Räder aus Holz oder ähnlichem herzustellen, ist an sich nicht neu. In vielen 3. Welt-Ländern ist das gang und gäbe. So entstammt auch hier der Funke der Idee aus einem Markt in Ghana. Max Schay entdeckte diese Fahrräder dort und überzeugte seinen alten Schulfreund Jonas Stolzke von der Idee, diese Räder auch in Deutschland zu etablieren. Die Idee für nachhaltige Räder war einfach mal zu gut!
Sie arbeiten eng mit dem sogenannten Yonso-Projekt zusammen, das sicherstellt, dass die Fabrikation der Räder unter fairen Bedingungen abläuft. So werden Arbeitsplätze in Ghana geschaffen und Bambusräder für Deutschland. Das kleine dynamische Team arbeitet Hand in Hand zusammen, um den deutschen Markt zu erobern.
Du hast hier die Auswahl zwischen 2 Grundmodellen an City Bikes oder die Möglichkeit, dir dein eigenes Rad zusammenzustellen! Räder, Sattel, Gabel usw. Alles liegt in deiner Hand, um dir dein eigenes exotisches Rad herzustellen zu lassen. Der Preis beträgt zwar fast stolze 2.000 Euro, aber immerhin wird niemand ausgebeutet und du finanzierst ein Stipendium in Ghana!

„My Boo“ is a slang word for something like „My Darling“…and believe me…you’ll instantly love My Boo’s bicycles! You’re wondering what’s so special about them? Well, look at them! They are made of bamboo. How cool is that! Not only are they really light, they can even be recycled! Except for a few parts (Wheels, lamp, saddle, and so on) they are made of the fastest growing and therefore eco-friendliest wood on this planet.
But where are they from and how are they made?
The idea of making bikes out of wood is nothing new. In many third world countries this is absolutely normal. This way the idea was sparked by a market in Ghana. Max Shay stumbled across such bikes there and convinced his old school friend Jonas Stolzke to join his idea and start selling these bikes in Germany! This idea for sustainable bikes was just too good!
They tightly collaborate with the so called Yonso-Project, they make sure the bikes are manufactured under fair circumstances. That way, new workplaces are made in Ghana and more bamboo bikes for Germany. The dynamic little team is working together hand in hand closely to conquer the German market.
Here you have the choice between two basic city bike versions, or you can build your own bike! Wheels, fork, saddle etc. – everything’s up to you, to have your own exotic bike manufactured. Even though the bike costs a whole €2000 it has a great plus: No one is being outsourced and you are paying for a scholarship in Ghana!
