Im Jahre 1880 ertränkte sich eine junge Pariserin in der Seine. Von ihrem jungen und zauberhaft hübschen Gesicht wurde sogleich, wie damals üblich, eine Totenmaske erstellt, welche auf der Beerdigung ausgestellt wurde.
Dieses Gesicht wird noch bis heute verwendet, um Schaufensterfiguren Charakter zu verleihen. Es ist das meist „geküsste“ Gesicht der Welt und bis heute holen sich Modedesigner Inspiration von dem zauberhaften Antlitz der jungen Unbekannten. Bis heute gilt das Gerücht, dass sie sich aus Liebeskummer ertränkte.

In the year 1880 a young lady from Paris drowned herself in the Seine River. In this time it was usual to make death masks of the deceased, so a death mask of her young and enchanting face was displayed at her funeral. Today her death mask is still used to give mannequins their face. It is the most “kissed” face in the world and the young stranger’s charming countenance becomes an inspiration for fashion designers to this day. Down to the present day the rumor that she drowned herself because of lovelornness exists.
