Das Label „Costume National“ wurde in Italien gegründet, genauer gesagt in Mailand. Die zwei Brüder, Ennio und Carlo Capasa, kamen schon in ihrer Kindheit mit Mode in Berührung, da ihre Eltern eine Luxus-Modeboutique besaßen. Nachdem Ennio in Japan für den Modedesigner Y?ji Yamamoto arbeitete, wurde er von diesem ermutigt, sein eigenes Modelabel zu gründen. 1986 war es dann soweit, zusammen mit seinem Bruder startete er das Label mit einer Prêt-à-porter Kollektion für Frauen. http://www.costumenational.com/issue/conscious/
Die Designer von Costume National arbeiten gerne mit den Farben Schwarz und Weiß und mit asymmetrischen Formen. Es wird viel übereinander geschichtet, zum Beispiel werden Röcke oder Kleider über Hosen getragen. Außerdem haben die Stücke einen künstlerischen Einfluss, was wohl daher kommt, dass der Chefdesigner Ennio Capasa an einer Kunstschule studiert hat.
Oft wir bei Kleidern und Oberteilen nur eine Schulter bedeckt. Röcke sind auf einer Seite länger als auf der anderen, so kann es schon einmal sein, dass der Rock auf einer Seite bodenlang ist und auf der anderen das ganze Bein zu sehen ist. Transparente Blusen lassen den BH durchscheinen und sorgen neben einer gehörigen Portion Anmut für den gewissen Sexyness-Faktor.
Schwarz-Weiß-Kontraste und bunte Blickfänge in Pink und Orange sind ein Highlight der Kollektionen.

The label Costume National was founded in Italy, to be precise in Milan. The two brothers Ennio and Carlo Capasa already came into contact with fashion in their early childhood, because their parents owned a luxurious fashion boutique. After Ennio worked for the fashion designer Yoji Yamamato in Japan, he was encouraged to found his own label. In 1986, his time finally came. The designers of Costume National love to work with the colors black and white and with asymmetric shapes. Several garments usually are layered on top of each other, e. g skirts or dresses are worn above pants. In addition, all pieces have a kind of artistic aspect, which probably results from creative director Ennio Capasa’s art studies.
Often, dresses and tops only cover one shoulder. Skirts are longer on one side and shorter on the other. For this reason, models are available with one hem side reaching the floor, while the other hem side reveals the entire leg. Transparent blouses let the bra shine through and contribute to a considerable amount of grace paired with a lot of sexiness.
Black and white contrasts and colorful eye catchers in pink and orange are the highlights of the collections.
