Once every year, Bavaria seems to become the center of the world. As soon as October hits, we start fishing out the dirndls and trachts from the back of our cupboards in preparation for celebrating the famous Oktoberfest. Beer, the occasional voluptuous décolleté and leather pants – what’s there not to love?

You don’t even have to be anywhere near Bavaria to celebrate this holiday. Berlin is a wonderful alternative! There’ll be barrels filled with beer, pig knuckles and Bavarian veal sausage being served at the Spreewiesn near the Berlin Haptbahnhof.

If you want to drink from huge beer mugs and can’t get enough of fancy leather pants and Bavarian folk music, you should pay the Spreewiesn a visit. Des wird a Gaudi! (Bavarian German: This is going to be fun!)
