It has long been a well-known fact that many innovative trends and tendencies in fashion often emerge beyond big fashion metropolises. For this reason, we are particularly tempted to deal with fashion events which don’t take place in typical fashion cities like New York, Paris and Milan. Instead we are looking at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Johannesburg today which will keep South Africa occupied from March 5th – 7th. This is why I’m going to introduce you to the most outstanding designers taking part in this event in the coming week.

Within the frameworks of this very article I’m going to give you an insight into what exactly defines the labels focusing on their latest spring and summer collections. Well, one thing is for sure: You can expect thrilling shows and mesmerizing fashion. It’s particularly the incredible diversity and multi-ethnical character of South Africa which fills the fashion with multi-faceted authenticity. A multitude of designers presents fashion defined by multicultural influences. One of these brands is Akedo whose SS15 collection was already introduced to you. Another designer I would like to highlight is David Tale whose beautiful creations characterized by soft neutral colors and artful patterns was already presented during the New York Fashion Week.

Often, the talented fashion creators show a symbiosis of tradition and modernity. In the first place, you probably think of colorful patterns if you visualize traditional African clothing. We could spot beautiful African-inspired prints combined with modern silhouettes taking the last Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Johannesburg by storm. Indeed, we were amazed at the more than just harmonious unification of traditional features and modern or even avant-garde attributes. You can surely look forward to a week full of thrilling discoveries and fascinating fashion creators!
