Hello fellow beauty lovers.

Like I promised yesterday, this article will feature the latest „Hypes“ in the beauty world. MAC is known for going the extra mile during Holiday season. Last year’s Holiday Collection was extremely popular due to the fact that the products were made with the aid of lovely Rihanna. But this year they certainly outdid themselves, again. The Holiday Collection features 30 exclusive and limited cosmetics pieces but, as per usual, the lipsticks take away everybody’s thunder. As a part of the Holiday Collection, the “Heirloom Mix” range includes five lipsticks altogether: 3 Limited, 1 Permanent and 1 Repromote lipstick coming from a past limited edition.

Here in Germany they came out on November 3rd. You could buy them at MAC counters and online at MAC and Douglas. I bought mine at Douglas to make use of my cheeky online vouchers to score some goodies and ultimately cheaper lipsticks. And because of those little promotions the lipsticks were gone and sold out very fast.

Outer Appearance | „Heirloom Mix“ Lipsticks

The packaging is like a dream come true for us girls. It’s the reason why I was interested in the products in the first place. They were not sparingly with the glitter to put us in the festive mood. The little glitter particles were incorporated into the tube itself. But you can even feel the little bumps on the tube, similar to the Alluring Aquatic LE back in summer.

The Product | „Heirloom Mix“ Lipsticks

Let’s get to the fun part, shall we? This collection includes the following shades:

………….

No Faux Pas – a hot pink (matte)

This little one is an absolute star amongst all the reds and plums. No Faux Pas was the first one being sold out, which might be due to the fact that it is certainly something else than your classic fall colors.

………….

Salon Rouge – a clean berry red (matte)

Salon Rouge is my personal favorite out of this range. This lipstick is colored in a matte berry shade which makes it my go-to color. It certainly looks like “Heaux” – one of the most sought after MAC lipsticks of all times except for the fact that it is less matte.

………….

Sparks of Romance – a classical red shade with golden particles

Sparks of Romance was purchased because I don’t own a single lipstick that compares to that and this is something that cannot be taken lightly. It’s your typical red but it has fine, golden glitter in it, which shows up on your lips. Nevertheless, it is subtle enough to wear during the day but still has the festive note to it, which definitely makes it the perfect Christmas lipstick.

Rebel (Permanent) – a dark, berry shade (Satin)

Rebel has been a very popular shade in the permanent range. It does appear much darker in the tube than it actually is. In truth it’s a very nice berry shade, which definitely leans towards plum. It has a Satin finish, which is still matte with a slight shimmer. It’s more hydrating and wearable that way.

………….

Tribalist (Repromote) – a dark, berry red with a glossy finish (Amplified)

At first, Tribalist seems like the perfect fall shade. It’s an extremely dark berry/plum shade. Unfortunately the formula of particularly this on is not as good as the other ones. It is very blotchy whilst distributing and not as pigmented, which makes the finish looks really messy. That’s the reason why I did not purchase this one. The shade is, as I said, a Repromote from past collection.

Overall impression | „Heirloom Mix“ Lipsticks

The lipsticks I purchased are very nice in quality like we’re used to from MAC. The packaging is absolutely to die for, which makes them perfect hunting objects for collectors. The prices however, are not that plush and dainty. They keep rising and I don’t like it. The Holiday Collection is very pricey, the lipsticks in particular cost 22€. In comparison: Standard lipsticks at MAC retail for about 19.50€. If you’re a resident in the states you even get the permanent ones for $15 a piece. Fortunately we got Douglas and Parfuemerie Pieper. They often give out promotion codes, which enable us to get the lipsticks a little bit less pricey.

Whether  the lipsticks are worth the money really depends on you and how much you like MAC lipsticks in the end. But yeah, I am in love with this Collection. Definitely a HOT.

Yours truly,
Lana Hoang
