LFW

Next to Paris, New York and Milan Fashion Week, London Fashion Week definitely is considered as one of the most famous and successful fashion events in the world. This year around it took place on September 12 -16 and was the place for extravagant and innovative fashion.

Besides old hands at Fashion Week like Burberry, Tom Ford and Vivienne Westwood, young and aspiring designers and brands like Simone Rocha, Daks and Peter Pilotto were there to present their collections for Spring and Summer 2015. Even the still young fashion festival Fashion East, which is known for offering six young designers a platform to show off their latest collections on a yearly basis, were part of the LFW.

The maverick amongst the designers, Giles Deacon, sent off his models down the Londoner runways dressed in his newest pieces. He already worked as a designer for Bottega Veneta and the Gucci Group. He then presented his very first own collection at LFW back in 2004. Now, 10 years later, he’s still a highly welcomed participant at LFW. His Spring/Summer collection of 2014 really pops out of the sophisticated play with voluminous structures due to really bulky dresses that beautifully hug the female body and oversized sweaters that despite their volume manage to express a certain feminine touch.

Fellow designer Emilio de la Morena was also part of this year’s LFW and was given the possibility to present his latest collection. His passion clearly lies in the modernization of old craftsmanship and the use of obscure techniques. He is known to design womenswear that mirror the personality and femininity of the wearer. The pieces are all quite figure-hugging and ooze sex appeal. His present collection especially earned a lot of praises due to the lamé look and the shimmering fabric.

Now, looking back at the London Fashion Week, which included 80 fashion shows in only 5 days we can safely say that this was, as per usual, a successful event, which presented the latest trends beautifully and pretty much gave us a cheeky sneak peek into a hot spring and summer in 2015.
