With his first collection “Buffet”, Leandro Cano has set a distinct example in 2012 and promised to offer a unique design to the fashion world. The line that consists of strong sculptures in firm fabrics and detailed prints was instantly awarded a prize. Thanks to the exceptional interpretation and his individual signature, the young Spanish man achieved to win the Designer of Tomorrow” contest and to fascinate the jury including Marc Jacobs.
With this victory, he ensured to receive international attention, which is of course justified. Inspirations from Spain, Paris or New York serve as his models for exceptional fashion. “Buffet’s” avant garde and explicit, sophisticated and extravagant design is very striking, and connects gracile femininity with extroverted uniqueness.
One main ingredient of the line is knitting, which Leandro Cano presents in unusual forms. This wearable avant garde designs are completed with leathered elements, which are adjusted to the sophisticated sculptured look. Voluminous, sensual, transparent and often accentuated on the shoulder or neck parts – this is how the line embodies his individual signature.
The focus is set on the colors brown, black and white, which are mostly completed by detailed prints in many colorful nuances. With this unconventional first collection he nailed down his reputation as one of the most important newcomers of the past years. His collection was also featured at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin in July.
