Courtroom sketch artists are people that provide insight into the judicial system. A trial is an event revealing many intimate and private details and that’s why it is not allowed to take pictures or to record anything. Courtroom sketch artists draw quick portraits of the attendant people in the room, and offer us images we would probably never see otherwise. Gary Myrick has been working as a courtroom sketch artist for 38 years.

He has recorded many cases with his pen and paper. Ramtin Nikzad made a short video portrait of him, which shows the way of Gary Myrick becoming a courtroom sketch artist. The video presents his personal development and  that of his entire profession. The intensity of the details of his sketches is very impressive considering that he only has little time to create the images. Feelings and movements of the drawn person are reflected accurately. He achieves to show emotions and authenticity with only a few lines.
