The latest Spring Collection of famous fashion house Givenchy is a clash between African and Japanese cultures mixed with the renowned techniques of Haute Couture. To distinguish himself from his competitors Riccardo Tisci stayed away from your typical animal prints this year and concentrated on a brand new territory: extravagant and artsy cuts. Jersey and intricate embroideries in an explosion of earth colors are in the center of the collection as well.
The Japanese flair flows through the whole collection. Kimono sleeves and fluid silhouettes in combination with traditional African draperies mark the style. The extensive use of silk jersey is the trigger for the dynamic and femininity throughout the whole collection.
The so called „Massai Look“ merges with Haute Couture, giving birth to graceful dresses and tops. You can additionally perceive harness-like tops reaching out of dresses to give the whole look an edgy vibe.
The models are also wearing masks made out of Swarovski crystals to symbolize the tribal masks in Africa.
The definition of the Givenchy Woman is summarized in three words: sensual, strong and confident. This can be achieved by fluid dresses, suits and jumpsuits. Those are paired with flat sandals made out of transparent Plexiglas and nappa leather.
