Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia is an annual fashion event where Australian designers present their newest seasonal collections. As usual, it will take place in Sydney, Australia, beginning April 06 and ending April 10. As it is Australia’s only international fashion platform, the MBFW Australia will focus on providing Australian designers a platform where they can get in touch with an audience of international clients, the media and consumers.

This year’s Fashion Week mainly focuses on the consumer, because the spring and summer collections can be bought right from the designers themselves.

In the past, the MBFW would often be criticized. Supposedly, only unexperienced and rising designers that were obviously influenced by the European market joined the event. I partly agree with that, because I think especially young and talented designers should receive the opportunity to present their fashion to an international audience beside the established ones. This is their only chance to grow and to be discovered. It was the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia that achieved to lead attention to a range of new Australian designers, such as Lisa Ho, Zimmermann, Leona Edminston and many more.

Of course, international celebrities shouldn’t be missing at such an international fashion event. And so, it was Linda Evangelista who drew worldwide attention to the event in 1997. Dita van Teese was a guest of honor in 2007, and did a great performance in a giant MAC lipstick.

This year’s edition awaits numerous designers to launch their collections for the upcoming season 2014/15. One of them is Bianca Spender, who has already been featured there in 2010. Her creations are known for combining structure and softness, and reflect elements of nature and industrial landscapes. If you like to enjoy her show, mark April 09, 6 pm.

Also the duo CAMILLA AND MARC is going to present its collection. Since their debut in 2003, they’ve become local celebrities regarding womenswear. The two siblings know how to integrate the ease of Australian lifestyle into their collections. They create luxurious high-end fashion for demanding consumers and therefore focus on classic cuts
