Jenny Kee is an artist who doesn’t follow short living fashion trends. Instead, she creates things that stay forever. She has been showing the vastness and fullness of her creativity since 1980, creating hand painted scarves, which impress me a lot. That’s why she can’t be missing at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Sydney (April 6 – April 10).

The beautiful patterns on the squared scarves look like a collage full of elements from nature or geometry. “Monet Lotus” has mesmerized me. As you can tell from the name, this scarf is embellished by simplified lotus flowers. They are a symbol of the relationship with nature while a Ying-Yang symbol embodies her believe in spirituality.

To be honest, if I had the money, this amazing piece would be instantly mine. As a true fan of the electronic “psy-trance” music and “goa” music, which are based on spiritual influences, I wouldn’t hesitate to wear her beautiful scarves, just to look amazing on a Goa-party … even though motoric qualities for dancing would be more important.

However, my heart is also captured by black and white designs, such as “Baby Unity”. This one shows a collage which unifies everything that symbolizes kindness. Here, you can spot a Buddha that was inspired by ethnical forms, as well as a dolphin and a heart. Jenny Kee surely has a heart, and this is demonstrated on her magnificent designs.
