Marieka Ratsma is known as the designer, who always works with an innovative and an avant-gardist vibe. She’s likely to take risks and she loves to go the extreme but she never forgets to incorporate something familiar into her designs.
Her handbags are made out of excess leather. That makes each bag unique and very eco-friendly. Just take her black envelope bag for instance, if I look at it, I think of a clear night sky full of stars. You can match this bag with absolutely everything and it kind of encourages you to dream more often. The next bag is from a whole different calibre. It is made of light leather and three dandelions placed in the barrels of guns are airbrushed on the front of the bag. Don’t you think this makes the bag incredibly “artsy”?
Although the bags are one-of-a-kind, the shoes really stole my heart. I have never laid my eyes on such creative shoe designs. Marieka Ratsma combined different techniques to reach this goal. The bottom of the shoe was made with the aid of 3D Printing. She was inspired by the look of the skyline colliding with high reaching trees.
Another beautiful pair of shoes goes conveniently by the name “porcelain shoe”. And do believe me when I say: The name couldn’t have been picked more precisely. The shoes are completely covered by pieces of porcelain. The look of them is priceless.
