In 2011, Celia Choi graduated from the Fashion College in London. The young designer is planning to launch her own label and to make exceptional fashion widely accessible. Celia Choi calls herself a drama queen and her aim is to make this possible for every women. Her designs are not only utterly ostentatious or elegant, but also just something really special.
The collection “Horus” is named after the Egyptian god. Celia Choi received her inspiration from the method used for preparing and embalming mummies and the way of finding out how to achieve the stability of the textiles. This also influenced her choice of the fabrics. In her collection, she works with denim and latex – both are strong and expressive materials. With these materials she formed her designs which weren’t in line with the traditional techniques at all. The models are built of pieces of jeans which met on specific points or even just hang loosely from the body.
Celia Choi shows her dramatic character to the world. Her fashion lets casual wear melt into couture, where denim is used for such exceptional designs.
