Glaw is a Berlin-based label. Jesko Wilke and Maria Poweleit are the designers and founders of this label. They both studied at the international art school Esmod in Berlin and also founded their business together right after having graduated. Glaw’s collections reflect femininity and sometimes lead into the uncanny. Their main feature is batik prints.

This feature is also included in the fall/winter collection 2013/14 where you can mainly find blue, white and black. The colors seem to be dropped into a glass of water where they start to dispense slowly. Glaw is really proud of the fact that it is the first label which found out how to achieve batik prints on leather. This can be seen on the biker jacket which is the protagonist of this collection. It’s their signature feature which is transformed in every collection. This leather jacket embodies the femininity and the independence, the main features of this label.

In the spring and summer collection 2014 the leather jacket is designed in a lavender shade. So, it perfectly fits the pants with its leather details or the blouse with the bow-tie in the same color. You can see the juxtaposition between the blouse’s innocence and the power and independence of the pants and the jacket. This collection is full of power and grace. A lot of baby pink is used to create a Barbie who still owns the power over Ken. Because he is shown naked in every single photo, always being under her spell.

Glaw is a label for true Berlin girls. They are feminine yet strong. They are independent, free and sometimes crazy. The young design duo catches this character very well and attracts city dwellers.
