Horror clowns, pygmies and proles: “Little Big” is a band from Russia that uses these features as their concept. And wow, they are really successful. Even though they make completely upsetting music and despite their creepy look, they are just ingenious. Their first hit “Everyday, I’m drinking” became a real zinger on the Internet. The music video showed everything you associate with Russia: bears, Matrjoschka pygmies, Balalaika punks, easy girls, punks and a lot of vodka. Nice dubstep and the following text are added: “no future, no rich, this is Russia bitch”, followed by the refrain: “Everyday, I’m drinking, everyday I’m drinking, everyday I’m drinking, I’m drinking every day”.

After having been pushed into the background (Ilya Prusikin and his band couldn’t continue successfully), something new has started. I’m not lying, it’s even more upsetting. It’s a mixture of “The Hills have Eyes” and zombie horror meets Russia.

What is very astonishing, is the social criticism which is added. Criticism about the system which exploits the citizens and which sees them as material, criticism on the monotonous life in Russia, criticism on the citizens themselves, because they don’t do anything except for drinking alcohol to beautify their lives.

One can see that the front man doesn’t only think about vodka when you watch his interviews. The band is at least worth looking at: Two typical Eastern bloc men and two runtish women…

Always remember: THIS IS RUSSIA BITCH!
