It was an easy train of thought: Big Apple – New York City – Manhattan – Upper East Side – Gossip Girl. It didn’t even take me a whole second to think of this iconic series upon reading this week’s theme for the magazine. Gossip Girl has been well loved for years and nowadays there’s rarely someone who hasn’t at least heard of the rich Upper East Side Clique. Who could blame us? The protagonists were all incredibly hot, rich and oh so stylish. It’s no surprise that so many young girls looked up to Serena van der Woodse played by Blake Lively. That also explains why this beauty constantly appears in the media, particularly in beauty and fashion magazines. Today, we would like to go on a mission to find out what Blake Lively aka Serena van der Woodsen exactly does to her hair to make it look so fabulous because her blonde mane surely was one considerable reason she became a beauty icon.
Here are three products that Blake allows to touch her blonde waves and believe me when I say that some of them may come as a surprise.
Salt water
Yes, I actually am talking about salt water as in the water from the ocean that is absolutely free of charge. Blake admitted that she likes to fill up a jug with ocean water to use at home after she learned that her beautiful waves look better at the oceanside than they do in NYC.
Mayonnaise
The next product is also quite unconventional. Blake’s mom taught her to apply mayo on the ends of her hair before stepping into the shower. The simple reason is the ability of mayo to protect the hair ends. You see, the soap in the shampoo usually strips the hair from moisture and leaves it all dry and brittle. By doing the mayo trick they’ll look much healthier. Instead of mayo, you can use coconut oil. 😉
Kérastase Reflection Chroma Captive Hair Mask
The intense hair mask by Kérastase retails for $65. I admit it isn’t cheap as chips but it is also not overly expensive for a hair mask. In addition to that it’s something Blake has sworn by ever since the year of 2007 and that is saying something!
Despite amazing salaries Blake doesn’t exclusively use shampoos and conditioners that are ridiculously overpriced. And that just makes the blonde beauty all the more likeable, right?
