The creations of the Indian designer Anju Modi  are not only seen on national and international catwalks. Bollywood did not fail to discover this talented fashion designer, featuring her fashion in popular movies. The designer herself started her career, following the principle “learning by doing”. Without having studied fashion design, this designer still succeeded in taking the South Asian fashion industry by storm. Her typical style inspired by traditional, Indian fashion has been developed through her countless journeys through this incredibly country of superlatives. In the first place, she was captured by the sheer diversity of craftsmanship in India.

In the year 1990, the label Anju Modi was born and since then it has not lost its typical individual style. The collections are still dedicated to the tradition-conscious woman who wants to impress with pompous, detailed design. Yes, splendor is what defines Anju Modi and earned her countless awards including the ELLE Style Award.

The cheeky flair of the Indian robes particularly impresses me. Despite the incorporation of typical, traditional silhouettes, Anju succeeds in giving Indian fashion a young identity. Skirts, tunics, blouses and saris just shine in a romantic and playful light, created by flowing textiles and ornamental embroideries as well as graceful colors.

You can’t have enough of her? Well, then you should keep an eye on the upcoming  Lakmé Fashion Week in India where this talented designer will participate in!
