I have left Frankfurt downtown behind and struggled my way through the evening rush hour, reached the east side of the city and grazed the new tower of the European central bank. All of the lights in the offices are on because right then and there no less than 20.000 packages were moved by vans from the Euro-Tower at Willy-Brandt-Platz to the new 40-floor ECB compound on Sonnemannstraße to ease the relocation of 2600 workers. Stress and unrest is palpable and I cannot wait to get to the Medusen Float on Hanauer Landstraße 187.

One week ago, managing director Sandra Haase told me over the phone that I had to keep the appointment to “float” and told me some of the basics I needed to know. I was completely clueless as to what can be expected. I already looked up the homepage www.medusenfloat.de and read that I will be experiencing a sort of zero gravity and utter relaxation  – exactly what I need after a working week like this.

When I got to the entrance of the floating spa situated in the middle of one of the busiest and most important Eastern streets in Frankfurt am Main I’ve immediately noticed that this is a place to really relax. Sandra Haase, who founded the Medusen Float with her husband Michael and her sister Nina Kostresevic already waited for me to welcome me personally to the location. She showed me the grand lobby and explains to me the benefits of Floatens over a glass of water. This stay over the next few days aims to reduce my stress level, foster a sort of stress resistance and can even promote my concentration level, creativity and productivity. Moreover, due to the floating my spine, musculature and joints should be relieved over the course of the next days, which tells me that this form of wellness would be a perfect option for herniated discs and cases of lumbago. In addition to that, the spa also has thermal salt water baths, which form the base for a lot of treatments like the Dead-sea-treatment. They’re not exclusively beneficial for great glowing skin, they are said to benefit the cardiovascular system, metabolism, hormonal functions, kidneys and musculatures.

I was given a couple of slippers, a towel and a bathrobe. After I took off my clothes and shoes, one of the Floating specialists gave me the grand tour of the 235 qm sized wellness oasis. Thanks to a clever timetable, guests of Medusen Float never stumble across another guest. That way everybody gets the feeling to be exclusively catered to. The whole wellness area seems extremely elegant due to the great décor. A room temperature of 35 degrees Celsius guarantees a perfect stay. Dressed in a bathrobe I step out of the changing room and into the place of true bliss.
