The Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week in Malaysia is back, opening its doors from June 18th to June 22th 2014. Just like in last year when this fashion event was born, the fashion week will take place in the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, where collections made for the runway are presented by 70 designers including Farah Khan, Silas Liew, Alia Bastamam and the brand PU3.

The KLF strives for increasing the fame and popularity of young, talented designers from Malaysia on a national as well as international base, enabling them to establish themselves onto the market. Apart from the Malaysian designers this year three designers from the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia are going to introduce their ready-to-wear collections to the fashion world.

Besides the regular runway shows, events are offered which will be carried out in three pop-up stores in different boroughs of Kuala Lumpur. What makes these pop-up stores so attractive? Enormously reduced prices will probably make the hearts of many fashion lovers melt within seconds.

Some of the designers were already participating in the first KLFW and of course they won’t miss the chance to present their collections at this fashion spectacle for a second time. One of these fashion designers is Joe Chia. He embodies a classic, timeless and experimental style. His creations can probably be worn over years or maybe decades without becoming old-fashioned. In his home country Malaysia he already collaborated with brands like Sony, Shu Uemura and Chiavas. His latest collection is dominated by the color black, which is very typical of him. Nevertheless you can’t call his fashion monotonous or boring as he tends to play with different textures, breathes life into his designs with different voluminous shapes which contrast with slim silhouettes.

Another designer who will definitely enchant the audience with his new collection is Eric Choong. When he was only 7 years old, he discovered his fascination towards clothing and design. Against the will of his father, he studied fashion design in Hong Kong. And indeed, he succeeded to establish himself as a designer specializing in bridal fashion, cocktail and evening robes. His mother who has always supported him still represents his muse, heroine, mentor and inspiration to this day.

We’re really looking forward to the fashion spectacle which will last 5 days. And of course, we wish this new-born fashion undertaking good luck for the coming years as well.
