The 25th edition of the Rio Fashion Week opens its doors on April 08, 2014. The RFW will present collections for fall/winter 2014/15 of many talented designers under the motto: “Rio, tropical resort, world heritage and cultural landscape”. The Fashion Week takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, twice a year. The balance between nature and city elements add a special and exceptional quality to the metropolis. Like the “sister event”, the Fashion Week Sao Paulo, the Fashion Week Rio is supposed to attract attention in a Brazilian and Latin American way.
Both Fashion Weeks are totally different. One might compare them to New York and Los Angeles. The RFW resembles the Fashion Week in L.A., because thanks to the near beaches like the Copacabana and Ipanema, a relaxed and casual atmosphere is achieved. The Sao Paulo Fashion Week is more gritty and urban like the New York Fashion Week.
One of the numerous designers will be Maria Filó. The Rio-born Filó creates fashion for women and is very popular in her home country. Her collections are known for the love of details which is compared with a touch of modern romance.
Of course, swimwear can’t be missing in such a city which mostly is defined by the beaches. One of the designers that will present swimwear is Lenny Niemeyer . Her former work as a renowned landscaper and love of nature influence her print designs and are reflected in the aesthetics of the creations.
The Carnival isn’t only an event, it’s also a lifestyle that is transitioned to the Fashion Week and so becomes an interesting and unique event.
