Maria Silver started her career in the fashion world as a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. There, she had studied contemporary design and costume design. Nobody can stop this young woman, who always follows new aims. She approaches fashion in totally different styles. First, she began to work for Broadway productions, such as “Mamma Mia” or “Gypsy”, after having finished her studies.
Being inspired by the alternative rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, she founded her label “Black by Maria” in 2011, after having done some tours as a drummer of a band. Her fashionable style can be best compared to the hippie period of the 70ies. Nevertheless, her flowery, casual style always becomes a rock ‘n roll statement with the help of structured and edgy cuts. Some of my favorite creations are the flowing floor-length flower skirt with a body-shaping top as well as the black vest and the combination of black leather pants and a monokini, which is absolutely wearable on the streets.
Since she has opened her own showroom in 2013, she has been demonstrating what fashion is about. Now, she has found her place to be. Black by Maria will be also presented at the Nashville Fashion Week(April 01 – April 05).
