Navy & Nude Collection von Bobbi Brown

Most women avoid blue eyeshadow because they are afraid of looking cheap or as if they have a bruised eye. But as long as you treat the color properly and use the right products, blue eye shadow can wonderfully emphasize any eye color and become a super feminine look. Here are the most important tips that you should follow when applying blue eyeshadow:

One shade is not enough.
Since blue is a color that is not usually neutral or natural, we have to take a little more careto make the whole makeup look beautiful on the eyelids. For any colored eyeshadow the number one rule is to use more than one tone shade of the color. That means: instead of applying only one shade of blue to the entire eyelid, apply a dark blue tone in the outer corner of the eye and a lighter shade of blue on the inner part of the eye. This adds dimension and makes the look instantly appear more wearable.

Less is more.
If you want to experiment more with some color, you don’t have to exaggerate – start small and work your way up. Put some light blue eye shadow into the inner corners of the eyes or apply a blue kajal pencil to the waterline to make the look a little bit more interesting. Don’t use the classic eye shadow look.
You don’t need to apply blue eyeshadow to the entire eyes. An eyeliner in a shade of blue can look even better than the classic black look and makes your makeup look more interesting.

How about extravagant blue shades?
The times of girly baby blue shades with pearl pigments are over. If you want to try a more eccentric and extravagant eye makeup, you should make use of vividly colored blue eye shadows. Try the Color Tattoo Eyeshadow by Maybelline for instance. It lets your eyes sparkle in an intense cobalt blue shade that evokes wishful associations with the ocean.
