Any mention of ethno fashion always brings a certain image to my mind – not this time, however! There are always exceptions that display a whole new side to this style. German swimwear label Watercult has positively surprised me with their creations this summer. You can combine them with one another, thus putting together individual outfits.
This season, the designers at Watercult have implemented lots of different ideas. One of them is an interesting reinterpretation of the ethno style. In the Watercult Festival Ethno line, characteristic triangle and diamond patterns have been redone in glowing neon colours; they appear particularly brilliant and striking against the dark base of the bikinis and swimsuits. The mirrored arrangement of the patterns ensure an artistic look that reminds me vaguely of Rorschach patterns. I can imagine the colourful creations matching perfectly to a healthy complexion tanned by the summer sun. The neon colours are not too overwhelming, due to the dark background and the distribution of small patterns – instead, they feel playful and young.
