The Lasalle College of the Arts is one of the most renowned institutes for the fine arts in the whole of South-east Asia. The college offers courses and degrees in various artistic disciplines such as dancing, singing, painting and of course, designing. Graduates of the fashion design studies receive the unique opportunity to present their graduating collection at the Fashion Week Singapore.
For that purpose, a show dedicated to this presentation is staged, namely the Lasalle Graduate Fashion Show. Fifteen of the graduates from the field of fashion design present their contributions during this show. As it is currently the 50th anniversary of Singapore’s independence, the students have been inspired by the history and culture of Singapore. The collections reflect this over the course of time and thus recreate them with powerful colours and innovative new interpretations of classical styles.
Especially with the still-young designers who are newly immersed into the world of fashion, I often have the feeling that their style is more pristine and easygoing. The graduate collections are always a highlight as the students usually get carried away with creative and unconventional ideas and do not have to worry about sales. With that, the Lasalle Graduate Fashion Show has advanced to one of the highlights of the Singapore Fashion Week.
