Hello fellow beauty lovers.

A waist measurement of 58.5 centimetres, that’s the European kids’ size 122/128 – or according to the new Triple Zero trend size XXXX-S. Yes, that’s right, those are three X’s in front of the regular XS. This new size is, considering the former Size Zero Trend, of which Victoria Beckham is the most vigorous advocate, like a revelation. This is a size and 8-year-old girl could fit in but not a grown woman. When these clothes hit the stores, the shitstorm didn’t wait a day to pop up online.

Abercrombie & Fitch was the very brand that made this happen. The brand has been repeatedly in the media for its doubtful marketing. CEO Mike Jeffries for instance let the whole world know that he only allowed attractive and slim people to wear his clothes. Triple Zero has been the result to highlight this very statement. In what kind of world do we live in where grown women have to fit into a size 28 to be truly slim? Especially young teenagers let trends like triple zero and a “thigh gap” rule their life and that’s a path terrifyingly close to anorexia.

Those triple zero items have been removed from the stores by now. But you do find triple zero occasionally since the trend started.

This picture shows Mike Jeffries, the very man, who said he only sells clothes to attractive people and, therefore, dangerous beauty ideals to young girls.

If, god forbid, only “attractive” and thin people can shop clothes by Abercrombie & Fitch, why is Mike Jeffries the CEO?

What do you think about this new Triple Zero Trend?

Yours truly,

Lana Hoang
