kale 2

Those of you, who have been reading my articles for a couple of months now, know that I like to treat me to a nice glass of green smoothie to start the day right. One of the main ingredients in them is always and forever one thing: Kale.

Whenever you talk about “Superfoods”, Kale is not always something that pops up immediately but this miracle veg is a true powerhouse when it comes to a load of great nutrients. There’s no official definition as to what Superfoods are but generally the term is used to describe fruits or veggies that are especially rich in vitamins, mineral nutrients including micro nutrients and have a positive effect on our health.

Kale is the king amongst the veggies when you take into account what it offers you: Vitamin A, C and K, folic acid, calcium, potassium, magnesium and iron. Not to forget the amount of fiber and omega-3 fatty acid you get by consuming the green leaves. In addition to all that, due to its high chlorophyll content, it is extremely antioxidant. I think there is absolutely no doubt that Kale is good for you. 😉

But I get it, I am not the biggest fan of the taste of it. However, I have found a great way to avoid it. My morning smoothie is filled up with tasty, sweet apple bits that totally cover up the taste of the kale. I really like this combination, it would also be a good trick to get your kids to eat more veggies. 😉

The great effects on your body are inevitable but the high content of vitamin A helps your skin, too. Cosmetic brands even started incorporating kale into masks and moisturizers! I, however, am sticking to my current routine of consuming kale for the time being. I have noticed an improvement in my skin, which turned me into the number one fan of kale! What are you guys thinking about this veg? All hype?

Yours truly,

Lana Hoang
