It’s kind of funny. I’ve shown you so much about the Darknet now and even explained to you how to remain almost completely anonymous in the dark spots of the web. Every week, we ventured even deeper into the Darknet. However, we never talked about how it all started. The first Darknet servers were set up for political seasons. The original idea was to protect people who could be persecuted for their knowledge and disclosures – Whisteblowers.

However, this original idea has been rather forgotten due to the way the media portrays the Darknet. It also appears to me that authorities such as the NSA consider the Darknet some kind of threat. In conclusion, the NSA has been recently reproaching all  Darknet user as extremists. “The bad, big and dangerous Darknet…”, is what the media is trying to tell us.

And once again they media overly sensationalize and present a topic to an extent that the truth about it is skewed. Human trafficking, hired guns, live streams of alleged death fights – in which you can apparently see people fight for their lives – those are all assumptions. And even if all those gruesome do exist in the deep web, their creators would host such websites in private networks which you can only join with personal invitations. Hence, an outsider would never be able to see all of that. Hitmen, Snuff video groups, death fights and the like will most likely remain a myth among all the stories of the deep web.
