The Ndrangheta is exactly that – admiration of the evil, the disrespect of common good. The Ndrangheta are one of the oldest mafia structures which are now entangled with the economy as well as with politics. They have been a part of the Catholic church for a long time and they even swore to the holy virgin Mary, but now this oath is violated. The excommunication was a brave step of the pope, we all know it, Mafiosi are not very gentle to their enemies. The incident which mainly led to the pope’s decision was the murder of a three-year-old.
