Dear Justin Vernon

How on earth could you even think of quitting your Bon Iver project? I mean, you did it! You succeeded. Thousands of hipsters worship you; I worship you thanks to a couple of melancholic lyrics and chords. Your music will forever be played at random folklore weddings and herds of teenagers will experience their first time to your tunes. You’re something like a god to the American Hipster community. Whole days were dedicated to you. June, 22 and December, 13 are official Bon Iver Days (in Milwaukee and Wisconsin). That’s huge!

And you still want to give it all away because there isn’t enough left for you to build on? Whenever you begin playing “Skinny Love” or “For Emma” you are practically guaranteed to shed streams of tears! There is a huge amount of stuff about forests, snow, wolves and meadows you could use. And about the chords? Just recycle your old ones, no one will take notice anyway.

So please Justin Vernon, do me, yourself and all of the other skinny jeans and shirt wearer a favor and continue to create bittersweet melancholy.

Sincerely,

Gregor
