The original Game Boy, also known as the cookie box, is now 25 years old! It was released in Japan on the 21st of April, 1989, making its way straight into the annals of my childhood.
I’ve spent hours on this green screen training Pokémon, leading Link into adventures and rotating Tetris blocks. And I still do that with a gadget that’s actually older than I am! The GameBoy captured my heart, while the Xbox and PlayStation never came close. Almost 119 million Game Boys were sold worldwide – that definitely speaks volumes! May the Game Boy stay around for many years to come! Now, back to training my Bulbasaur…
